Information about Dar Choral Society's upcoming concert is below. Please forward to other friends. Thank you!
Fifteen years after its world premiere in April 2000, Karl Jenkins' Mass for Peace "The Armed Man" - originally commissioned for the Millennium and dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo war - is to be presented to you during a unique performance at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel on Sunday, May 24th 2015.
The Dar Choral Society and Orchestra, conducted by Hekima Raymond is very proud to perform this famous Mass for Peace in various languages including Kiswahili - a world premiere.
Owing to the country's paramount role in mediating regional conflicts, the electoral context at the end of the year and a growing trend of religious tensions throughout the world, we hope to convey to all Tanzanians to listen to this major musical work gathering texts / lyrics from different religions - Islam, Christianity, Hinduism - in various languages: Latin, Arabic, English, and for the very first time Swahili.
The goal might be ambitious/presumptuous, yet we believe strongly in Tanzania's ability to maintain peace and unity in the future: Amani na Umoja.
